Dharamvir's entry in poll fray hots up political temperature in Bhiwani

Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) and outgoing legislator from Sohna (Gurgaon) Dharamvir Singh’s entry into lok Sabha polls has increased the political temperature in the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency.

Emergence of Dharamvir as BJP candidate has made the contest close. Dharamvir, who enjoyed the power of CPS being a Congress MlA for around ten years, is now contesting the election against Congress nominee and outgoing MP Shruti Choudhry by accusing the Congress Government of failing to control inflation and corruption.

Caste is the most crucial factor here. Since Shruti and Dharamvir both belong to Jat community having highest numbers of votes in the constituency, it would be interesting to see that who would succeed in taking a lead in getting Jat votes which are over 3.5 lakh.

Bhiwani district has five Assembly segments — Bhiwani, loharu, Badhra, Dadri and Tosham — and Shruti Choudhry polled highest votes in all the segments during last lok Sabha polls held in 2009. Meanwhile, reacting over allotment of BJP ticket to Dharamvir as ‘unfortunate’ for the party workers, former MP and BJP’s senior leader, Sudha Yadav, said the party high command had ignored the committed workers and loyal leaders by giving ticket to a person who joined the party just a day ago.

“The development indicates that money power has become much stronger than work, loyalty and dedication of the workers in the BJP. Congressmen, who had been close to CM Bhupinder Hooda, are now holding the reigns in BJP too,” said Sudha, adding that she had already registered her protest against the move before the party high command.
