Depts to develop module for women and children safety

In a bid to sensitise people about the prevention of crime against women and children in Haryana, a joint module is being developed by the Departments of Education, Police, Panchayati Raj and Women and Child Development.

This was stated by the Woman and Child Development Minister, Kavita Jain, while presiding over a meeting with officers of Police, Education and Woman and Child Development Departments, here on Tuesday.

The move to develop a joint module comes after the recent incidents of rapes and murders in Haryana.

During the meeting, the Minister urged the stakeholders to contribute their maximum for the prevention of crime against women and children. The Police, Health and Education Departments should periodically organise training programmes to sensitise their officials and teachers on this topic and ensure better coordination, said Jain.

She also directed the officers to conduct a survey of the girls, children and women as they are vulnerable to such incidents.

The Minister suggested that the Education Department should consider incorporating information in the curriculum about remedial measures for the prevention of such crimes. Highlighting the importance of safety of both small girls and boys, she said there should not be any gender bias so far as safety is concerned.

It is also important to make both family and society aware of the safety of children and various social organisations should come forward to achieve the objective, she added.
