Less than a week after Bollywood’s angry man Sunny Deol came under political limelight, his action of filing nomination papers as SAD-BJP combine candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary seat on Monday will be captured by its top leadership including three Union Ministers.
Other than Sunny Deol’s father and Bollywood’s yesteryears’ superstar Dharmendra and his actor-brother Bobby Deol, among those who would accompany him include Union Minister VK Singh, Union Minister Jatindra Singh, Hoshiarpur MP and Union Minister Vijay Sampla, SAD president Sukhbir Badal, Haryana Finance Minister and state BJP in-charge Capt Abhimanyu, state BJP president Shwait Malik, besides sitting and former MLAs of both the parties.
Sunny Deol, whose real name is Ajay Vir Singh Deol, will himself remain in Gurdaspur for the next couple of weeks for his new role of a politician in the political flick.
After filing his nomination papers from Gurdaspur constituency, Sunny Deol is scheduled to address an election rally in a massive show of strength to kickstart his poll campaign. Over the next days, he would be addressing a series of meetings and rallies in his first election hustings.
On Sunday, Sunny Deol reached Amritsar in the afternoon, where he met the BJP leaders. He is facing Congress’ sitting MP and Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar. He joined the BJP only past week, and on the same day his candidature was announced by the saffron party.
His candidature had resulted in discontentment among other ticket aspirants — including party’s former Union Minister and ex-MP Vinod Khanna’s widow Kavita Khanna and Mumbai-based businessman Swaran Salaria — who, at one point of time, were considering to contest as independent candidates.
However, a day before, both the leaders had announced to support the BJP nominee and work for the party — which come as a great relief for the greenhorn candidate.
