Delhi CM on lines of Indira Gandhi, says SAD secretary

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) lambasted AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for demolishing historic Piao Sahib at Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib in Delhi and said that  Kejriwal has started working on the lines of Indira Gandhi.

In a hard hitting statement released from the party head office on Sunday, the party secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said that whereas Indira Gandhi attacked Darbar Sahib in 1984 and Kejriwal has chosed the historic Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib for the similar action.

He said that Sikh community world over is deeply hurt by this blunder of the AAP Government led by Kejriwal.

He told Kejriwal that it is easy to send bulldozers mindlessly to places of heritage, historic importance and institutions of faith of all communities but its repercussions should also be kept in mind.

Cheema reminded Kejriwal that had Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib not sacrificed his life in the Chandni chowk for the sake of freedom of religion and human rights, there would not have been any democratic Government in the country. But it is shameful that the Delhi Government could not bring into the notice of the Delhi High Court the actual history and heritage importance of Bhai Mati Dass memorial as well as Pia Sahib.

He said that the Government has miserably failed to protect these institutions of faith and is now playing politics to put the blame on court.

Coming down heavily on the dubious character of Kejriwal, the SAD leader said that it appears that the AAP leader is playing with the sentiments of the Punjabis particularly of Sikhs and is trying to befool them with his dirty tricks.

Cheema warned the AAP leader that SAD will not tolerate his mischievous attempts and the party will expose his dubious characters in the protest rallies for which all preparations have been done. He also warned the leader that Sikhs have a history of safeguarding their religious institutions through peaceful and democratic traditions as they have done in the past and they would not deter for the same in this case also.
