An ace wrestler, an errant cop, a one-time actor, and an alleged drug racket kingpin, Jagdish Singh alias Bhola was inspired by the underworld don to play the bad man’s role in real life.
Punjab’s drug lord Bhola, who was recently arrested for masterminding Rs 700 crore drug haul, was inspired by wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim to make it big in the crime world, by following his footsteps.
It was informed that when Bhola was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai with 25 kilos of Ice in 2008, he was lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail where he came into contact with Dawood’s estranged former lieutenant Abu Salem and also Mustafa Dosa. Due to his contacts, Jagdish Bhola was able to secure certain facilities in the jail, including outside food which acted as a causative factor for Abu Salem and Mustafa Dosa to come close to him, informed Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HS Mann.
Mann added, “He interacted very closely with these two former associates of Dawood Ibrahim and showed keen interest in the manner in which Dawood operated his illegal enterprise, especially the drug business. The inputs received from Abu Salem and Mustafa Dosa convinced Bhola that he could also make it big in the illegal drug trade.” Further grilling of Bhola has revealed that his contacts in Canada were sending the drug ICE to Australia, primarily through air cargo.
“The drug would be mixed with banana powder to avoid detection... concealing the contrabands were used like false cavities in containers, food product boxes, among others,” said Mann.
