Noted Punjabi-Sufi singer and Congress leader Hans Raj Hans on Sunday said the Dalit samaj should fight against the communal forces in Punjab in upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.

Addressing the leaders from across the State representing the dalit samaj in Kartarpur, Hans Raj Hans appealed to them to take forward the vision of party vice president Rahul Gandhi and strengthen the hands of Capt Amarinder Singh in the coming 2017 elections.

Praising the party, he said that Congress has always given due representation to the dalits, made them more powerful and given them equal opportunities. Congress is the only secular party where the dalit samaj feel safe and see their bright future also, he added.

He said that the Congress party will soon launch “Samaj Jodo Campaign” in Punjab.

The very aim of this will be to go to the grass root level and listen to the grievances of the dalit samaj. We will be covering the 34 reserve constituencies first and then going ahead with other constituencies also. We want to reach to those who have been unheard since the last ten years, who have been facing humiliation in the hands of the present regime in the state, added the Congress leader.

lambasting the SAD BJP government, Hans Raj Hans said that number atrocities on the dalit samaj has risen manifolds in this last ten years rule. The dalits are brutally tortured by the goons of this government, the women folk are also not safe, and every second day there is rape of one or other dalit women, he claimed.

The atrocities on dalits are increasing under the patronage of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Then there is a nexus between the police and the powerful politicians who with their muscle power and money power daily harass the dalit samaj, he alleged.

Commenting on Aam Aadmi Party, he said that they are just selling dreams to the innocent people of Punjab, specially the dalit samaj. Will Kejriwal tell the people of Punjab what steps he has taken in the state of Delhi in the last two years for the betterment of the dalit samaj. Just befooling the people of Punjab will not serve the purpose of this party, which dreams to rule the state, he added.
