Amritsar: Slamming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa on Tuesday opposed the releasing of postage stamp in “honour of alleged tyrant ruler” Beant Singh.
Detesting Prime Minister’s views that Punjab is largely peaceful and secular today only because of the courage and patriotism of people like Beant Singh, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said that the peace in Punjab returned only after the demise of Beant Singh from the scene.
“Beant Singh allegedly violated people’s human and civil rights especially the Sikhs. The extra-judicial killings were order of the day during his regime,” he said.
He added, “By honouring a person who was allegedly tyrant and killers of young Sikh boys, the Congress has time and again established that it hasn’t learnt any lessons from its past blunders and still continues to hold anti-Sikh agenda.”
