CS to hold monthly review meetings for smooth execution of NABARD projects

To ensure timely completion of projects under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday asked the State Chief Secretary to review the progress of such works on monthly basis.

Badal, presiding over a meeting of senior NABARD officers led by its Chief General Manager (CGM) PM Gohle, expressed concern over the “undue delay” in implementation of projects worth Rs 700 crore in the state.

He asked the Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal to monitor the progress of the ongoing projects every month so as to streamline their execution in a time-bound manner.

Badal said that every department should also be in constant touch with the NABARD officers, to overcome any sort of problem or impediment that comes in the way of implementing these projects.

He also asked the officers to submit utilisation certificates of all the projects completed by them to the NABARD officers for updating them regarding the pace of ongoing work.

The concerned administrative secretaries of various departments should also keep direct liaison with the officers of the development agency so as to keep a close tab over the progress of the funds received for these projects, he said.

Badal also impressed upon the officers of NABARD to sanction loans liberally for funding the various development projects across the state especially in the rural sector.

The NABARD CGM assured Badal of full support and impressed upon State Govt to reap maximum benefits by availing loans from the agency, which was the cheapest source of financing development projects in rural sector.
