Crusade against BJP: INlD may not join Janata Parivar

The old constituents of Janata Parivar, trying for unification of different regional parties as a larger entity with proposed name Samajwadi Janata Dal, to counter the BJP at national-level, may face a setback in Haryana as the main Opposition Indian National lok Dal is reluctant to be a part of this front.

“We are not taking it seriously. Neither have we discussed it in our political affairs committee nor at national executive,” said RS Chaudhary, national General Secretary of INlD. Party MP Dushyant Chautala had participated in the first meeting of the proposed alliance in Delhi in which Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, RJD president lalu Prasad, former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and HD Deve Gowda of Janata Dal (Secular) participated.“We don’t believe in what Mulayam Singh Yadav says. Recently during discussion on religious conversion in Parliament, he did not counter the BJP and instead walked out,” said Chaudhary.

The INlD leader said Mulayam Singh had ditched INlD chief Om Prakash Chautala in Jind rally during Haryana Assembly polls on September 25. The SP supremo did not come to the rally and instead sent his brother Shivpal Yadav as his representative. Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar of Janta Dal (United) and HD Deve Gowda of Janata Dal (Secular) had shared the dais with Chautala in the rally. Even Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal had attended the Jind rally of Chautala despite being a constituent of the NDA.

Asked why did the INlD participate in the meeting in Delhi of this fledgling front, Chaudhary said, “We sent Dushyant to see what is going on”. INlD sources said jailed Om Prakash Chautala doesn’t want to open a front against the BJP at this juncture as the CBI is probing his cases and there are no elections in Haryana or the Centre till 2019.
