'Crimes against women have increased during Hooda Govt'

Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) supremo and Member of Parliament Kuldeep Bishnoi on Sunday said that a sharp increase in crime against women in the State had proved that Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Congress Government had entirely failed in providing a safe atmosphere to the women.

He said, “The situation had worsened in the State that women were feeling themselves ‘insecure’ and were waiting for next Assembly Polls to oust Congress from power.” Bishnoi was addressing a gathering during a ‘Women Rally’ organised by women wing of HJC in Beri town, about 25 km from here, on Sunday. He promised to the women present in the rally that HJC would ensure women security and protection of women rights in the state if it comes to power in the assembly polls due next year.

“Women play a crucial role in formation of any government. It was the women who had contributed a lot in formation of Bansi lal government in the state in 1996  but it is a matter of shame that women are, at present, the worst sufferers in the state due to failure of the state government in checking crime against them,” said Bishnoi, adding that around 4,000 cases of crime against women likes rape, molestation and eve-teasing etc. had been reported during last eight months.

How can you expect justice for women from such government whose ministers and MlAs were accused of committing crime against women. That was the reason that acute resentment prevailed among the women against the state government for not taking any firm step to ensure safety and security of the women, said the MP, adding that the HJC would take revolutionary steps in the direction of women empowerment if it holds reign of the state in next polls.

Holding Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his local MlAs responsible for “Apna Ghar” incident in Rohtak, state chief of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Ram Bilas Sharma said when Chief Minister was not able to check crime against women even in his hometown, then it can be gauged easily that under which terrible situation the women had been living in the state.

He called upon the women to teach a lesson to Hooda government for his failure in making crime free atmosphere available to them by voting against Congress in the next assembly polls.

Kusum Sharma, convener of the rally and state chief of HJC Women Wing, presented a demand charter before Kuldeep Bishnoi and Ram Bilas Sharma during the rally wherein she demanded setting up of a women police station in every district of the state for the security of women, Rs one lakh as ‘Kanyadaan’ to be given from the government side in the wedding of girls belonging to poor family, opening up of a women college in Beri town etc.
