Two persons were injured on Tuesday in an explosion in a private bus at Bhuna in Fatehabad district, the second such incident in Haryana in two weeks.
The explosion took place at around 11 am near Bhuna when the vehicle was on its way from Jakhal to Fatehabad, following which panic-stricken passengers jumped off to save themselves. The explosion incident was the fourth of its kind in the state this year.
Haryana Additional Director General Police, law and Order, Muhammad Akil said that the explosive device was in a black bag. Preliminary examination by authority has revealed use of sulphur-like substance, commonly used in crackers.
The spot of explosion is about 4 km from Bhuna and 20 km from Fatehabad, he said Senior police officers along with bomb disposal squad and crime scene team had reached the spot and are investigating the incident, said ADGP.
He added that in the incident, Bhagirath about 45 years and his wife Rajbala, about 40 years have suffered minor burnt injuries. Both are out of danger and are being treated in Civil Hospital, Fatehabad.
The incident comes two weeks after a low-intensity blast took place in a state-run bus near Pipli in Kurukshetra, leaving eight passengers injured. The State Government had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any credible information about those involved in the blast in the Haryana roadways bus.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was also constituted by the State Government under Haryana Additional Director General of Police (Crime) S S Kapoor to investigate the three cases of explosion that had occurred in Kurukshetra on May 26 and previous explosions happened in Panipat on January 16 and May 13.
On May 13, a blast had taken place in a bogie of a Delhi-Panipat passenger train causing minor injuries to a 15-year-old boy. The blast took place when the train was parked in the yard in Panipat. The earlier blast had happened in January in the Panipat-Ambala (64543) passenger train stationed on the platform.
The central agencies—IB and NIA—are working in close coordination with Haryana police's SIT to investigate the explosion incidents.
