A day after the Punjab and Haryana High Court directed Punjab Government to settle the issue of compensation to 1984 anti-Sikh riots’ victims, Punjab Congress on Thursday accused Akalis of exploiting the issue for “political gains” while failing to redress their genuine grievances of  rehabilitation, compensation or relief.

High Court on Wednesday directed the SAD-BJP-led Punjab Government to form a committee headed by Financial Commissioner, Revenue, with Secretaries Housing and Expenditure as members, to settle the claims of red-card holders seeking compensation for the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots.
