A constable of Chandigarh Police has alleged ‘unnecessary harassment’ by the UT IGP RP Upadhyay and the SSP (Security) Maneesh Choudhry.
A DDR has been registered by local police in this matter, said police on Saturday.
The complainant constable Jagjeet Singh, posted at VIP securities, has stated that he was being harassed unnecessarily by the top officials of Chandigarh Police as he attempted to reveal scams of the Police Department.
“Recently, I brought out scams in Chandigarh Police. In the shoes scam, I proved that the top UT cops have bought low cost shoes at higher prices and have received commissions from the sellers. In another case, I pointed out that many UT cops, who were transferred from traffic duty to the headquarters and other places, were again sent to traffic duty within a period of one month,” said Jagjeet Singh.
He claimed that he was being targeted by the top UT officials as he attempted to reveal these irregularities going on in the UT Police Department. On Friday, he was ordered to move to Tarn Taran for the security of a lady, who was allegedly thrashed by two cops of Punjab police few months back.
“When I approached the concerned officials and demanded to cancel my duty to Tarn Taran, as there will be no one to take care of my children, no official listened to me. UT IGP and SSP Security have plotted this conspiracy to harass me,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, a written complaint was submitted by him at Police station of Industrial area and a DDR has been registered on the complaint and further investigations are under progress.
When contacted, Maneesh Choudhry, SSP Security denied the charges and said that no conspiracy was being plotted against Jagjeet. His shifting to Taran Taran is part of the Court orders for the security of the lady who was thrashed by Punjab police cops. According to the orders, four Personal Security Officers (PSOs) are sent from UT for the security of victim after every six months.
