Contractual female health workers to be regularised in Punjab

Published on:

In a major decision, the Punjab Government has decided to regularise all female contractual health workers — Auxiliary Nurses Midwives (ANMs) — who have completed three years of service in the State.

The decision was taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting with a 10-member deputation of Punjab Contract Multi-Purpose Health Workers (Female) Union led by its State president Narinder Kaur late on Saturday evening at Chief Minister’s official residence.

After hearing the grievances of the deputation, the Chief Minister directed the Principal Secretary Health Vini Mahajan to chalk out the modalities immediately to regularise these health workers against all 1,154 vacant posts in the Health Department.

For the adjustment of the remaining ones, Badal has already directed to take up the matter with the Central Government for early creation of about 400 additional posts. He assured the deputation that all the ANMs would be adjusted positively. He also promised that all other genuine demands of theirs would also be considered on priority.
