Conspirators to be punished, says BJP

Condemning the recent incidences of desecration of holy birs of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, the Punjab unit of BJP on Tuesday demanded that the people who have conspired to disturb the peace of the State must be brought to book and be punished in a time bound manner.

Punjab BJP held an emergent meeting of its core committee on Tuesday to analyze the law and order situation in the state. After chairing the meeting, Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma said, “not only the perpetrators of the crime be punished but the conspirators behind such ghastly incidents must be booked and punished appropriately.” Addressing media after the meeting, Sharma said that “Those who have committed this crime should get exemplary sentence so that nobody dares to  commit such crime in future”. He recommended that the cases of the perpetrators of such crimes should be sent to fast track courts so that such people are punished in a time bound manner.

On the need of calling an all party meeting on the issue, Sharma said that BJP was not against the idea but it is the call of the Chief Minister.

He said that Punjab has not yet recovered completely from the black days of terrorism and has lagged behind other states in terms of progress and prosperity. He said that the BJP core committee had appealed to all political parties of the state to restrain from scoring political brownie points on the ultra sensitive issue relating to the religion.
