Congress workers protest outside Maluka residence

Published on:

Hundreds of Congress workers led by Mohali MlA Balbir Sidhu on Thursday staged protest outside the residence of Punjab Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka in village Kansal demanding his resignation from the cabinet for his involvement in the book scam.

Sidhu, addressing the protesters, said that Maluka had shamed the entire political class by indulging in book scam. He asked Maluka to step down from his post voluntarily otherwise the Congress would force the Chief Minister to drop him.

Sidhu added that Maluka’s daughter-in-law Parampal Kaur was fully responsible for purchase of books as she was instrumental in forming purchase

committees. He said that it was rather more shameful for Maluka that he was trying to shift the onus of scam

on to officials who acted at the behest of his daughter-in-law.

“Chief Minister is trying to protect Maluka as the inquiry ordered by him is a sham. Congress would not be satisfied with inquiry less than CBI or by a sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court,” he added.
