Taking cognizance of complaints from block level to district level Committees, Congress is all set to issue show cause notice to over 150 party workers and leaders who defied the official candidates and worked against them in the assembly election held last year.
The Pradesh Congress Committee had received nearly 200 complaints against several leaders and workers from block level, district levels and even official candidates of the party who contested the elections.
The last date of receiving the complaints was March 15 but it was extended till March 31 due to the massive flow of complaints. After scrutiny around 150 party workers and leaders were zeroed in for show cause notice.
The notice will be served in next couple of days and one week time is likely to be given to them for the reply after which action against the guilty will be taken. The new PCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that party had focused on discipline and adopted zero tolerance against corruption and those found guilty needs to be punished.
Sukhu had earlier expelled 24 party workers and leaders for anti-party activities and had promised for more action against the rebels who worked against the party’s interest in the assembly elections. He had then sought reports from all the block level committees, district level committees, candidates and frontal organizations.
Taking tough action against indiscipline and corruption, Sukhu who was confirmed as full time party chief earlier this week had also suspended murder accused MlA Ram Kumar Chaudhary after he was arrested. Sukhu issued show cause notice to Baba Hardeep Singh, president of INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress) after he was arrested by Haryana police.
“Party needs discipline and transparency and irrespective of the stature, we will act tough against indiscipline and corruption,” said Sukhu adding that party is gearing up for the lok Sabha election and soon reshuffle of office bearers will be done.
