Slamming the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday alleged that it “worked for safeguarding the interests of the rich” even though the party claimed “to be votary of the common man and the poor”.
“All the policies of Congress are aimed at benefiting the affluent class, whether directly or indirectly, at the cost of common man. Congress has made it difficult for the common man to survive,” said Badal while addressing a gathering during his ‘Sangat Darshan’ programme at Talwandi Sabo. Accompanied by daughter-in-law and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the CM held the Congress party responsible for unemployment, corruption, illiteracy and poverty in the country, alleging that the UPA Government was stalling projects for Punjab and exhorted the people to bring BJP-led NDA to power in the lok Sabha polls.
“Congress party is the ‘mother of all social maladies’ confronted by the country whether it was unemployment, corruption, illiteracy or poverty,” said Badal while exhorting the people to rout the Congress from the power “for achieving the set targets of the New Year and to further boost the development of the State”. “The Congress party has miserably failed on all the fronts due to which the internal and external sovereignty of the country was in deep peril,” he added.
Chief Minister added that it was on record that the Congress has always pursued the agenda of ‘divide and rule’ whereas the SAD-BJP alliance has worked hard to ensure the development of all the sections of the State. Also lashing out at the Congress, Harsimrat said that the Centre has ditched the countrymen due to which the electorate has made up their mind to defeat this anti-people party in the lok Sabha polls. “Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is not aware of the problems faced by the people as he has never gone amongst them. Even the attendance of Nehru-Gandhi scion in lok Sabha is below 50 per cent…If a person can’t attend the sessions of the Parliament then how he could solve the problems of people,” she added.
Harsimrat said that it was writing on the wall that the NDA would form the next Government at the Centre and nobody could stop it.
