Maintaining that Malwa is the worst affected by Cancer, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Rampal Dhaipi on Thursday appealed all the political partied not to politicise the issue further and demand setting up the prestigious institute in Mansa only. “Malwa region is the worst affected by the Cancer and therefore, setting up of AIIMS in Malwa is fully justified. We will very soon meet the Governor on this issue and press for our demand to set up AIIMS in Malwa. I appeal to every political party not to politicise this issue further as this should only come up at Mansa region,” said Dhaipi.
Dhaipi said that he, along with his team members, have been working for this cause for past 10 years. “I even organized special healthcare check up camps in Mansa where more than 10,000 people are investigated for this deadly disease. In a survey, conducted by Central Ground Water Board, also detected percentage of arsenic and fluoride in water more than the permissible limit which was one of the major cause for cancer,” he said. He said that Harsimrat Badal’s claims for setting up of AIIMS are hollow as it was the Congress leaders who struggled for this cause for past 10 years. “Bathinda MP is just taking political mileage from this issue. Actual credit for this should go to the Congress leaders from Malwa region,” he said.
