Ahead of the State Assembly elections in Haryana, the ruling Congress, while intensifying its poll campaign, flagged off Vijay Rath Yatra comprising 21 vehicles for 21 districts across the State.
The Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda flagged off the Vijay Rath Yatra in Chandigarh on Tuesday. The party has decided to put more emphasis on the ‘publicity’ this time especially on Hooda Government’s developmental work during two terms rule in the state and policies of Congress during the campaign.
“All Vijay Raths would cover every district of Haryana and make people aware of the progress made by the state government in the last nine and a half years during Congress rule,” said Hooda.
Meanwhile, during the lok Sabha elections 2014, Hooda had to face opposition of public during the similar ‘Vijay Rath Yatra’. Also, the party had to face a humiliating defeat as it had lost nine constituencies’ seats out of ten, except retaining one of Rohtak from where his son Deepender Hooda was the candidate.
This time, the party does not want to repeat the same mistake and has thus, flagged off 21 ‘Vijay Raths’ for each district to achieve a hat-trick in the upcoming assembly polls.
To deal with anti-incumbency factor and inner party rift on leadership issue, during Assembly polls, the party has handed over one ‘Vijay Rath’ to each district Congress president for effective campaign of the party in their own areas. Hooda said during campaign they (party) would focus on poor people, workers, farmers and elaborate about the policies, programmes of the previous UPA Government at the Centre. He also ruled out any inner party rift and claimed “the party is united and every leader will contest the forthcoming Assembly election in the State unitedly”.
Vijay Rath is equipped with all facilities.
Raths have been fully equipped with all facilities including big video screens with mike facility, the DVDs of party campaign, Rs raginis’, lok Geet and Haryana culture, speeches of various successful rallies including recent Hooda’s Vijay Sankalp Rally at Panipat, other speeches of Congress president, Dr Ashok Tanwar, Finance Minister H S chattha, Cabinet Minister Kiran Choudhary, Transport Minister Aftab Ahmad, former Congress president Phool Chand Mullana, Chairman of the Congress manifesto committee Dr Ram Prakash, Cabinet Minister Savitri Jindal, Haryana Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Sharma among others.

The party has connected the lED screens on the Vijay Rath with different news channels. During campaign in villages, the screens will show CM Hooda’s live programme, besides those of other leaders.
