Congress hits out at Kejriwal

To deflate the farmer-friendly claims of Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar on Friday said that Kejriwal, who had been visiting the suicide affected families in Punjab, must ask people that why hadn’t he visited the family of Gajendra Singh, a farmer from Rajasthan, who had committed suicide at Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi during AAP rally.

Addressing a Press conference in Chandigarh, Jakhar said that the farming issues of Punjab cannot be compared with those of Delhi. He said that Kejriwal who had been claiming of giving highest compensation for crop damage in Delhi, need to understand that the quantum of total compensation disbursed in Delhi was 90 Crores only, while claims of more than 1300 crores for crop damage in Punjab during 2015 were presently pending with the centre.

Refuting Kejriwal’s claim of introducing politics of a new style, Jakhar said that the Delhi Chief Minister was playing the traditional tactics by fishing into troubled waters and trying to win over the farming community.

Throwing a challenge to Kejriwal, Jakhar said that Kejriwal should first clear his stand on the issue of water in Punjab.

He said that Punjab cannot afford an experiment like Haryana on the administrative side, where the inexperience of Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar brought the State to unparalleled upheaval and had created a new line of divide among people.
