Congress gripped in fear psychosis over SAD’s Patiala rally, says SAD

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Friday alleged that the Congress-led Punjab Government is hell bent on creating obstacles through district administration in the preparations of its scheduled “anti-repression rally” on October 7 at Patiala wary of its success and fall out.

“The dilly-dally on granting permission for the rally site clearly reflected nervousness and anxiety on the party of the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh who is progressively losing ground on his home turf Patiala which is his home district too,” said SAD’s secretary general Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.

He said that the resounding success of the event would strike a death knell of Capt Amarinder’s political carrier.

Dhindsa said that the district administration had denied permission to hold rally in Patiala city on none of the proposed venues — Polo Ground, City grain market or at the back of Aviation Club — where the rallies have been held in the past.

“Finally, the rally was permitted at Mehmadpur grain market which is 10-kilometer away from the city when it became evident the SAD would approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court,” he said.

Former Union Minister Dhindsa said that the Congress is seriously suffering from a fear psychosis which had shown its palpable signs when it made a desperate attempt to cancel the party’s rally at Faridkot on September 16 but the High Court came to SAD’s rescue.
