Congress demands apology from Vij

A day after Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij posted a tweet attacking Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Haryana Congress on Thursday strongly condemned the remarks made by him and demanded him to tender an unqualified apology.

In a statement issued here, Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party (ClP), said, “Anil Vij has always been in the news for wrong reasons and for irresponsible remarks. Now the flip-flop Minister has hit a new low with comments on Sonia Gandhi. He should tender an unqualified apology to Sonia Gandhi.”

Vij had tweeted “100 chuhe khake billi Hajj karr rahi hai (After eating 100 rats, the cat doing pilgrimage) and is disrupting Parliament by not attending the lok Sabha proceedings during the five-day suspension of 25 Congress MPs by the lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan, by holding a protest outside, said the former Excise and Taxation Minister

Known for raving, ranting and then retreating his remarks, Choudhry said, “The Minister does not mind taking potshots at his own party leaders and Cabinet colleagues and has come to acquire the image of a flip-flop minister.”

Quoting a couple of instances, Choudhry said when the Haryana Government appointed Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra brand ambassador for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, he ranted, “I do not have any information of anybody appointed Brand Ambassador of my department for Beti Bachao programme.”

The very next day, he retreated saying, “The Chief minister is my fast friend with whom I don’t have any differences. I welcome both ambassadors for Beti Bachao Abhiyan Madhuri Dixit appointed by PM and Parineeti Chopra by CM, ’’ said Choudhry.
