Capt Amarinder demands thorough probe into AAP nexus with militants, gangsters in Punjab

Reacting strongly to reports of the arrest of Nabha jailbreak mastermind from the house of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker, Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh has demanded a thorough probe into Arvind Kejriwal’s nexus with militants and gangsters in the state.

In a statement issued here, Capt Amarinder expressed serious concern over the arrest of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon from an AAP activist’s house, just two weeks after Kejriwal himself courted controversy by staying at a KlF militant’s home in Punjab.

There is apparently a strong nexus between AAP and militants as well as dreaded gangsters, posing a major threat to the state’s security and safety, said Amarinder, demanding an independent investigation, preferably by a central agency, into the party’s dangerous links.

With the Maur bomb blast also being traced to KlF, and occurring just a few days after Kejriwal’s suspicious stay at KlF terrorist Gurwinder Singh during his Punjab visit ahead of the assembly polls, the situation warranted a detailed inquiry into what appeared to be nefarious links between AAP and anti-social elements, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief said.

While AAP, led by Kejriwal, had increasingly been exposing its extremist ideology in the run-up to the polls, things had now come to a head in the wake of the latest reports of Sekhon’s arrest from the home of party activist Goldy Gill, an NRI who had been actively engaged in campaigning for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said Captain Amarinder.

It was no longer possible, he said, to brush away controversial Kejriwal’s stay as a mere coincidence, as the AAP leadership had been trying to project. It would be foolhardy to treat Kejriwal’s stay at Gurwinder’s house as an isolated instance, with the latest incident giving credence to suspicions of deep-rooted links between AAP and criminals as well as militants, said Captain Amarinder, adding that the threat of revival of terrorism in Punjab could not be undermined and needed to be dealt with an iron hand.

“AAP SHElTERING CRIMINAl’S”

Chandigarh: BJP on Wednesday slammed AAP for allegedly harbouring criminals and militants in Punjab in the wake of recent arrest of the mastermind behind the Nabha jailbreak.

Taking exception to the recent arrest of Nabha jailbreak mastermind Gurpreet Singh Sekhon allegedly from an AAP activist's house, Punjab BJP president and Union Minister Vijay Sampla said: “AAP is sheltering criminals and militants in Punjab. This is evident from the arrest of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon from NRI Goldy Gill's house in Moga.”

Gill campaigned for AAP during the Punjab Assembly polls and was present in many rallies of the party, he said.

When the jailbreak took place, the AAP had accused the SAD-BJP combine of connivance with the criminals, he said adding, “Now, the BJP would like to ask AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal why is he silent over the arrest of Sekhon from his party worker's houseIJ Shouldn't we consider him to be hand in gloves with the criminalsIJ”

Coming down heavily on AAP, Sampla said: “This is not the very first instance which exposes AAP's radical mind-set. Earlier, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal stayed in the house of Khalistan liberation Front (KlF) activist Gurwinder Singh during his Punjab visit.”

Sampla said: “Not only this, AAP even fielded candidates with a dubious, terrorist background. The party's candidate from Talwandi Sabo Baljinder Kaur is a hardliner whose uncle Pala Singh was a prominent militant leader and was shot down in a police encounter.”

He said that AAP simply wants to disrupt law and order situation in the state which is encouraging criminals and radicals to further its agenda.

The anarchy Kejriwal is trying to spread is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the people of Punjab, he said.

AAP govt WIll probe police-politician-criminal nexus in Nabha jail break

Chandigarh:  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday said that after forming government in Punjab, it would probe the “police-politician-criminal nexus” in Nabha jail break in the light of new facts that police had prior intimation of jail break conspiracy and allowed the gangsters to flee unchallenged.

“AAP has already expressed apprehensions of political patronage to the gangsters who escaped from Nabha jail in a pre-planned plot,” said AAP’s Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann.

He said that the interrogation of key accused Gurpreet Singh Sekhon has revealed that gangsters remained active after their escape from jail. “Police was under political pressure for not arresting the accused…The police has taken swift action in this case only after influence of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal was neutralized,” he added.

Mann said that the police had registered a FIR against Ramanjit Singh alias Romi, a Singapore-based criminal, who was also arrested and kept in Nabha jail. “Romi might be brought to jail to facilitate his meeting with gangsters and later allowed to skip to Singapore while on bail,” he said.

He said that same Romi had remote-controlled the jail-break episode from Singapore and police remained clueless. It was serious matter and jail break was not possible without involvement of high ups in the state government, he added.

Mincing no words, Mann alleged that Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia had patronized criminal gangs and allowed them to operate with impunity. The criminal gangs were part of the mafia run by Badal family, he alleged.

“law and order has taken a dip in the state and people are forced to live under constant threat,” he said while assuring that the people of Punjab would get a peaceful atmosphere free of criminals under AAP government.
