After being pushed around and manhandled during the party workers meeting at Yamunanagar and Jind districts, Haryana Congress President Phool Chand Mullana on Monday alleged that such incidents happened due to aggression of those opposed to Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Government in the State and he was being targeted because of being a Dalit leader.
Yamunanagar district Congress committee meeting on August 24 under the chairmanship of Congress co-in charge of Haryana affairs Asha Kumari and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Phool Chand Mullana ended up with blows between supporters of Union minister Selja and chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Similarly at Jat Dharamshala in Jind, the next day, during the party workers meeting Mullana was pushed around. As soon Mullana entered the hall, there was the competition among the Hooda loyalists as well as Birender Singh and Union minister Selja's loyalists. They tried to outscore each other by raising slogans in the favour of
their leaders.
Congress workers not only raised anti-Hooda and-anti Mullana slogans, but also forced him to leave the venue. Some of the workers could be seen even with shoes in their hands.
Mullana said that these acts were not only pre planned but also against the congress party. “These are anti party campaign”, he added.
Mullana named several MlAs and MPs, including Sadhaura legislator Rajpal Bhukri, Hisar legislator Naresh Selwal and MP Ishwar Singh. “Now disturbance or manhandling during the state party workers meeting will not be tolerated. Party will take stern action against those who found responsible for such disturbances”, said Mullana.
The Haryana Congress President said he was convening party workers meeting on the directions of Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi.
“The two incidents have not only maligned party image at national level but also gave wrong message to the voters about factionalism,” he said.
On action against the MlAs or MPs, Mullana said he had sent a detailed report to the high command to take appropriate action.
Hisar legislator Naresh Selwal, however, said he was not responsible for any scuffle anywhere. “But I must advise Mullana ji, if he is not capable of handling the seat of president of state congress party, he should resign from his post”. Selwal said the party president himself is responsible for such incidents.
