'Cong trying to disturb communal harmony'

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday stated that the State Congress leadership was “in dearth of any tangible issue against the SAD-BJP Government”, and that was why it was trying to disturb communal harmony in the State by vitiating political atmosphere through their baseless statements.

Badal, interacting with the media persons after laying foundation stone of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru Government College Mohkam Khan Wala and Astro Turf Complex in Shaheed Bhagat Singh stadium, said: “Congress party has always adopted the policy of ‘divide and rule’ to fulfil its vested political interests.”

He said that Amarinder Singh had never raised any issue during his tenure as the Chief Minister of the state. “Now, when the former Chief Minister was shown the door by his party due to his illogical statements and politics of vendetta, Capt is misleading the people by issuing baseless statements,” he added.

Badal said that he do not deem it fit “to answer the issues raised by those persons who had betrayed the SAD to enjoy fruits of power by becoming a tool in the hands of the perpetrators of Operation Bluestar and Sikh carnage of 1984”.

Terming the rise of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as short-term phenomena, Badal said that it would hardly have any impact on the state polity. “It is writing on the wall that the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would become the Prime Minister of the country after the ensuing lok Sabha polls,” he added.
