Haryana Congress will launch a campaign against the Manohar lal Khattar Government for allegedly deceiving the farmers in the State.
launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central and Haryana Government, Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar on Tuesday said the BJP Government had betrayed the farmers.
The BJP had promised implementation of Swaminathan report but it had failed to implement it in the past three years, said Tanwar, while talking to the mediapersons here.
The Congress leader said the party would chalk out a strategy to launch a campaign against the BJP Government and raise the issues of the farmers.
Claiming that farmers were committing suicide in the State everyday, Tanwar said the BJP Government in Haryana had failed to address the grievances of farmers and instead deceiving them in the guise of insurance scheme.
The State Congress chief also claimed more than 70 per cent of the CM’s announcements made in various constituencies of Haryana were still pending.
On a question related to speculations of change of leadership in Haryana, Tanwar denied any such move.
Earlier, former Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the BJP Government at the Centre which completed its three years in office on May 16 had betrayed the farmers. Terming the Narendra Modi Government as anti-farmer, Singh, while presenting a booklet, claimed that around 14,000 farmers and agriculture labourers committed suicide in the country last year.
While 12,360 farmers and agriculture labourers committed suicide in 2014, the number of suicide stood at 12,602 in 2015 as the BJP Government at the Centre had failed to waive farm loans, hike minimum support price and procure crops, claimed the former Union Minister.
He also accused the BJP led Centre of cheating farmers while benefiting private insurance companies in the name of Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme, and said that the private companies are earning huge profit through the Centre’s ‘Fasal Beema Yojana’.
The BJPs “anti-farmer mindset” is exposed today as nothing has been done for the welfare of farmers while huge promises were made by the party before general elections, he added.
