Cong to face 'vote drought' in lok Sabha polls: Sukhbir

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday predicted that Congress Party would have to face a ‘vote drought’ in ensuing lok Sabha polls and electorate would not spare Congress-led UPA Government.

Presiding over a state-level Christmas function held here at the Government College Stadium organised by All-India Christian Dalit Front president and Punjab Minorities Commission chairman Monawar Masih, Badal said that electorate is ready to wipe out Congress led UPA Government for its decade long bad governance and corruption.

Asked about the proposed preparation of Congress high command to project party’s Vice President Rahul Gandhi as its Prime Ministerial candidate, Sukhbir ridiculed Rahul’s performance in recent state polls and said the announcement would be sufficient for colossal debacle of Congress in lok Sabha polls.

He said that in comparison to BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Rahul does not know the basics of politics, administration and development.

Announcing half day holiday in Punjab and full day in Gurdaspur district on December 24 in view of Christmas, Badal said that the contribution of Christian Community in the field of Education and Health could not be overlooked.
