After its ongoing exercise of taking feedback from party workers right from block-level to State-level, Himachal Congress is likely to announce its candidate for 2014 general elections before December 30.
Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that right now party was in the stage of taking feedback from workers. After the exercise was over and report of party observers came, central leadership was likely to announce the candidates by December 30. He said that depending on the feedback of party workers till now, State unit of Congress was of the opinion that candidates should be announced early so that they get enough time to campaign in their respective constituencies.
Sukhu, however, didn’t name any probable candidates but said that candidates would be announced by central leadership on the report submitted by the State unit. “No parachute leaders will be made candidates and depending on the feedback of grass root workers, probable candidates will be finalised but final decision will be by central leadership,” added Sukhu.
He said party was in poll mode and soon a workshop would be held for strengthening party’s image through social media and a meeting of block presidents and district presidents will be held soon. Sukhu said that every committee of HPCC formed would be monitored and performance will be analysed from time to time. “Tasks and accountabilities are being fixed at all levels and review meeting will be held from time to time at State-levels,” he said.
Sukhu who hailed from Hamirpur district said that this time party would break the jinx of Congress not winning the seat for past 15 years and without naming Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur he said that the people of the constituency know that current MP has been busy with Mumbai and Dubai. “BJP has indulged in commercialisation of politics and cricket in State while for the Congress, it iss not politics of convenience but politics of service of common man,” claimed Sukhu.
