Punjab Congress on Sunday suffered a severe jolt when its supporters and workers in Fatehgarh Sahib shifted loyalties towards the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The family and supporters of late Harminder Singh Harji, besides Harmel Singh, Ranjot Singh, Balbir Singh, Ranjit Singh, Manjit Singh of village Reona Neevan, who in the previous elections supported Congress MlA Kuljit Singh Nagra, have now joined SAD.
Welcoming the supporters in the party fold, Badal said that Congress leaders are making beeline to join Akali Dal as they were totally frustrated, disheartened and demoralised.
Also, SAD patron Badal said that due to the wrong and unethical policies of the UPA Government, people would expel the Congress from the country in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“Due to wrong policies of the Congress-led UPA Government, every section of the society is suffering miserably due to inflation and unemployment in the country,” said Badal, adding that even internal and external security of the country is on stake. lashing out at the UPA Government, Badal said that the ministers of the Congress are involved in the big scams and the corruption is at its high in the regime of Congress.
Badal said that even today internal and external security of the country is a matter of great concern as India is not secure from any side. “Day is not far when due to such anti-Punjab and anti-people policies of the Congress would not even find a single flag bearer of their party. People of Punjab will wipe out Congress party which has always conspired to ruin our State,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, former MP Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra said that committed and dedicated family of late Harji and its supporters switched to SAD because of SAD and BJP's pro-people and welfare schemes.
“With their support to the SAD, the Congress party has decimated in the Fatehgarh Sahib,” he added, reiterating that SAD-BJP alliance would win all Zila Parishad and Block Samiti seats in the State.
