The Haryana Congress on Wednesday flayed the BJP Government, led by the Chief Minister, Manohar lal Khattar, for the use of water cannons and brutal lathi-charge on the agitating computer teachers who were protesting to press their long-pending demands.
The Police lathi-charge on Tuesday resulted in injuries to 30 computer teachers, including 10 women, who had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.
In a statement issued here, Kiran Chaudhary, leader of Congress legislative party and the former Excise and Taxation Minister said the State Government should take immediate steps to redress the grievances of computer teachers who have been agitating for about 100 days and have been on indefinite strike for the past 13 days, to press their demands. Their demands include renewal of the contract. They were recruited in August, 2013 but, after one year, they were told to leave.
