Accusing Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar of insulting the business community in the State, AICC in-charge communication and State MlA,Randeep Singh Surjewala on Wednesday said the Chief Minister must express apology for insulting the businessmen of the State.
"The Chief Minister should express public apology for casting aspersion on the trading class by describing traders as dishonest tax-evaders. The traders of Haryana are industrious and honest ad their insult is the humiliation of Haryana," said the senior Congress leader.
Stating that traders evade tax, the Chief Minister had made remarks on traders' community in Karnal a day before during his meeting with several cloth merchants who had demanded exemption of the cloth industry from the GST.
Reacting on the statement of Chief Minister on traders' community, Surjewala said the traders and shopkeepers of the State have contributed immensely in the development of Haryana. The attributed statement of Chief Minister has tarnished the reputation of businessmen and the people of Haryana at national level. This is not expected from someone sitting in most responsible position of the State, said he while lashing out at the Chief Minister.
The Congress leader said, "Khattar should not forget that he is the Chief Minister of the State and being the CM, all the sections have certain right to present their grievances to him. It is very unfortunate that the people coming to Chief Minister in the hopes of some 'help' were described as corrupt. The whole episode smacks of arrogance of power".
