Expressing surprise over the Congress’ statement asking for a debate on the Food Safety Bill, the SAD on Sunday said that the Congress was running from debate on the same in the Parliament.
“It looks funny to see that on one hand, the Congress has chosen the path of ordinance to avoid a debate inside the Parliament, and on other side, it is challenging the opposition for a public debate….If they are so confident about the merits and success of this bill, then why do not they introduce it in the monsoon session of ParliamentIJ” asked SAD secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema. He added, Congress had promised to bring food security bill in its election manifesto but did nothing till 2013.
