In another attempt to check the crowd flow to BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally at Hamirpur district, Congress Government has planned a public function and rally at adjoining Una district to be addressed by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on the same day on February 16.
Modi will be addressing a public rally at Sujanpur town of Hamirpur district on February 16 and BJP has announced that over two lakh people will participate in the rally from all over the State. In its attempt to check the crowd flow to Sujanpur, Congress Government in the State has announced that special session of Gram Sabhas will be held on forest rights on the same day. The Gram Sabha meeting move came under intense criticism by the BJP, which alleged that Congress Government was trying to subvert Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Hamirpur, as people of panchayats and rural areas, will have to participate in the special session of Gram Sabha.
In its latest move, now Congress Government has planned to hold a public function at Haroli of Una district also falling in Hamirpur parliamentary constituency on the same day of Modi’s rally. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will inaugurate a food park at Haroli in Una district, after which he will address the gathering. Haroli is the Assembly constituency of State Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. Sources said to mobilise crowd for Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s function, over 300 buses have been booked to ferry the people.
The BJP alleged that this public function is being deliberately organised to stop the people of Una from attending Modi’s rally at Sujanpur. “We got to know of the public function only recently but one thing is clear whatever Government wants to do, they can do but people of the State are eagerly looking for Narendra Modi’s rally and they would participate in huge number,” said State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti.
