Senior Congress leader and Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Monday submitted two “highly objectionable” video clips of Punjab Cabinet Minister to Governor Banwarilal Purohit, demanding an inquiry into the same.
Handing over the two video clips to the Governor, Khaira demanded that a forensic examination of these videos should be conducted to ascertain its authenticity.
“I met the Governor today at Chandigarh to hand over two video clips of gross misconduct of an AAP Minister along with a complaint for appropriate action against him,” said Khaira.
Khaira added that he had also handed over a complaint against Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak for appointing his son, sister-in-law’s son to official positions in his office thus indulging in impropriety. “I was forced to meet the Governor as we have no faith in the Bhagwant Mann government or the Punjab Police as they are only targeting their opponents like me by slapping false cases against them,” he said.
Dubbing the allegations by Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira as “baseless and false”, Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lalchand Kataruchak said my son has never been my official phone attendant. “There is no truth in Khaira’s words,” he said.
Kataruchak said that for the last 11 months, “my official phone attendant is Sandeep Kumar. His father's name is Shiv Lal. He is a resident of Sharna village of our assembly constituency Bhoa. And my cook's name is Lekh Ram Sunar. His father's name is Maun Singh. He is a resident of Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district”.
“Khaira is making false allegations against me by taking the name of my son with the intention of defaming me. I have never misused my position for the benefit of my family,” he said.
