Cong meet fails to hammer out man-one post issue

Days after the letter of AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi to Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) for adhering to the principal of one man-one post, the issue stole the limelight in the executive committee meet of the party.

Ironically the issue cropped up in the presence of seven office bearers who are enjoying dual responsibilities in both organisation and in Government. These office bearers are considered close to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. Executive committee members openly asked the PCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu to take a call on the issue and entrusted that the AICC, the PCC chief and the CM should clarify the matter. Some office bearers of the executive committee said that organisation needs senior and experienced leaders at the time, when polls are round the corner, so a decision should be taken.

The issue of one man-one post had first arisen after the visit of AICC general secretary Ambika Soni who had categorically said that organisation post and Government post cannot go together. The issue since then was put into back burner but recently the issue once again cropped up when Dwivedi wrote a letter to adhere to the principal of the party.

The Chief Minister had said the issue of one man-one post cannot be applied universally as there are specific needs of the organisation and Government to keep a balance of politics, region and caste. “This issue should be dealt at senior level and therefore AICC, PCC chief and Chief Minister should take a call on the matter," said one office bearer.

Meanwhile, PCC chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Rahul Gandhi’s stand against the Centre’s controversial Ordinance to shield convicted politicians has led the Centre Government to withdraw the Ordinance and Bill.

“Rahul Gandhi’s bold move has led the Central Government to withdraw the Ordinance that was aimed at shielding convicted politicians and AICC vice president's positive thinking will benefit the party organisation at national and State level,” Sukhu said, adding that this move of Rahul Gandhi has put the politics on right track and it will usher a new era of clean, transparent and honest politics in the country.

Sukhu urged the party office bearers to spread awareness among party workers and general public regarding the people-centric policy of UPA and State Governments, which include Food Security Act, MNREGA, land Acquisition Act and others. Sukhu said that State leadership received good reports from all the 68 blocks of the State where meetings were held on the directions of AICC and party organisation of the State.

He said that a Jan Sampark Abhiyan will be launched in all the blocks and districts of the state to gear up for the upcoming lok Sabha elections and this Abhiyan will completed by November in the tribal areas of the state as these areas remain cut off from the State due to heavy snowfall in the winters.
