The Congress on Monday launched a scathing attack on Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana for deteriorating law and order situation.
Congress MP and spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi hit out at the State Government over the law and order situation while referring to several incidents during the past one month including gang-rape of a woman from the North-east.
The recent incidents and rise in crime incidents against women, show how police and administration were working here in the State, said Gogoi while talking to the mediapersons here. The Congress leader also said the investment flow had stopped in Haryana and the promised international airport had not materialised.
Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar, who was present at the Press conference, said the party would protest against the BJP Government on the issues of law and order, farmers’ problems, shortage of power and water in Haryana.
Meanwhile, Gogoi also lashed out at the Narendra Modi-led Central Government saying the Government’s claims about development had proved to be hollow and the BJP led dispensation is focussed only on advertisements and polarisation.
Taking a dig at a recent incident when Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had to scale a tree so that his phone could catch signals, the Congress MP said that the incident showed how effective the ‘Digital India’ campaign had been.
He claimed beyond the slogans, advertising and hyper-rhetoric, the sentiment is gloomy. The so called development exists only on paper, he added.
Gogoi alleged that the promised ‘Acche Din’ have come, but only for a select few as the “suit boot ki sarkar” is busy pursuing “anti-poor” and “anti-farmer” policies while favouring the rich and the corporate.
When asked about the cases against Congress leaders like former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Gogoi said, “The party welcomes every kind of inquiry, but it should be made time bound. The BJP government should not use CBI as a political tool”.
“What happened in Vyapam scam, Gujarat Petroleum scam, when their own government and Ministers were in dock, they remain silent. Who assisted lalit Modi, Vijay Mallaya in leaving the country, all these facts should emerge,” Gogoi added.
