'Cong involvement in holding Nov 10 gathering proven'

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Monday said that the involvement of Punjab Congress in organisation of November 10 gathering in league with radical groups had been proven beyond doubt by Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa’s refusal to take any action against party colleagues who supported it to the hilt.

“It is condemnable that the Punjab Congress chief is failing to recognise the overwhelming proof of the manner in which Congress leaders were hand in glove with the organisers of the congregation,” said Sukhbir.

He said, “Recent evidence points out that the Congress leaders of Majha region, including lalli Majithia and Harminder Gill, were even helping the radicals to collect people and were also involved in framing of the resolutions which were read out at the congregation.”

Sukhbir said that this was not all, “the Congress leader who had facilitated lalli Majithia and Harminder Gill’s conversation with two of the organisers of congregation had also identified both their voices and statements made on the phone. If this is not evidence what isIJ Do you not trust your own party leadersIJ”

SAD president said that besides this, Bajwa’s own role was under suspect. “Your trouble shooter — Inderjit Zira, whom you have used on various occasions to create tamashas at your beck and call, was present at the radical show. The people of Punjab want to know whether he was sent by you or not.”

Stating that Bajwa could not keeping evading this issue, Sukhbir said: “Either you must throw all Congress leaders present at the extremist gathering out of the party or admit that you acquiesced to their presence and even allowed them to send Congress workers to the meeting to score brownie points against the SAD.”

“If you do neither you expose yourself in the eyes of Punjabis who will realise that you have become part of the conspiracy to target the moderate Sikh leadership in Punjab for your petty political gains,” he said.
