Cong holds protest, demands resignation of Barala

Congress members led by Haryana party chief Ashok Tanwar and ClP leader Kiran Choudhry on Thursday held protest at Sector 17 here demanding resignation of BJP State president Subhash Barala and fair probe in Chandigarh stalking case.

Terming the stalking incident as “unfortunate and shameful”, Tanwar and Kiran said that justice should be delivered in the case. All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) chief Shoba Oza and Ashok Tanwar had earlier this week met complainant Varnika Kundu and her family at Panchkula to assure party’s support to them.

Congress had also submitted a memorandum to Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki demanding free and fair probe in the stalking case.

Meanwhile, leader of opposition in Haryana and senior leader of Indian National lok Dal, Abhay Singh Chautala on Thursday said that BJP has changed its ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign to ‘Beti Uthao, Beta Bacho’.

Referring to stalking case where Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala is an accused, Chautala said that the BJP had been talking about saving daughters, but now trying to shield the son, who allegedly chased and harassed a girl on the roads of Chandigarh.

Taking a jibe at BJP, the INlD leader said that the ruling party is now running ‘Beti Uthao, Beta Bacho’ campaign. He also demanded resignation of Subhash Barala. Two day back, an INlD delegation had also met Punjab Governor and UT Administration VP Badnore, to demand fair probe in Chandigarh stalking case.
