A day after SAD secretary general Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa made allegations against Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa, the Congress hit back at him alleging that Dhindsa is close relative and mentor of noted drug smuggler Kanwarjit Singh Pehalwan who has close links with D-company and also facilitated Mumbai blasts.
“Dhindsa is mentor of Pehalwan who is father-in-law of Dhindsa’s son and Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa. Pehalwan is a notorious criminal and he has franchise rights of Dawood Ibrahim in India. He also facilitated Mumbai blasts and a shipment sent by Pakistan was received by him,” alleged Congress leaders, including party vice president Surinder Pal Singh Sibia.
Congress leaders said that Pehalwan’s name also figured in the list of ‘Dus numbri’ (bad characters) of Punjab and his name is displayed on the notice board of police station Sarai Amanat Khan in Tarn Taran district. In police records he is shown as ‘absent’ though it is mandatory for him to report in the police station every day. Being close relative of Dhindsa, Pehalwan is roaming free without fear of Police, they said asking Dhindsa to ask his son’s father-in-law to surrender before Punjab Police.
“Dhindsa has no right to raise accusing fingers on Bajwa while he himself is supporting and protecting Pehalwan from the Police,” the leaders said adding that Dhindsa was instrumental in acquittal of Pehalwan in many cases of drugs and gold smuggling registered against him. PPCC leaders claimed that Pehalwan had close links with Maninder Singh Bittu Aulakh, Youth Akali Dal leader arrested by the police in drug racket run by dismissed DSP Jagdish Bhola.
