Haryana Congress has flayed the BJP Government led by the Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar for spending `17 crore of tax payers’ money in a month on the publicity of its so-called achievements as part of completion of a year in the office. In fact, the BJP Government has no achievement to boast of, said Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party (ClP) on Tuesday.
In a statement issued here, the former Excise and Taxation Minister said, “The huge expenditure on publicising its so-called achievements is sheer wastage of public money that could have been better utilised on development works or on compensating the farmers for the loss of crops and helping the poor.”
Referring to RTI query, Choudhry said the fact that out of the total 889 announcements of projects or schemes, only 91 have been commissioned till October 10, 2015 and 18 have been found not feasible for implementation proves that the BJP Government believes in talking more and doing less.
It also underscores the fact that announcements are made for the hack of it and to hoodwink people. This smacks of non-seriousness on the part of the BJP Government in Haryana towards growth and development of the state and its people, she added.
“Instead of spending money on publicity and functions of the Chief Minister and ministers, the BJP Government should have used it for giving compensation to the farmers and on providing relief to the common man reeling under inflation and high prices of essential commodities,” said Kiran Chaudhary.
An RTI query sought by a Panipat resident in Haryana had revealed that the BJP government in Haryana has spent a whopping `17 crore, within a fortnight, on advertisements highlighting its achievements on completion of a year in office.
