Haryana Congres on Friday alleged that the Rs 1,000-crore scam involving disbursement of various social security pensions to fake beneficiaries in Haryana has taken the “sheen off the veneer of honesty and transparency applied on the face of the BJP Government led by Manohar lal”.
After the reports on alleged Rs 1,000-crore scam in the State, the Congress has demanded a judicial probe into the matter.
Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party on Friday also asked the Government to take quick steps to recover the tax payer’s money from the fraudsters.
The former Excise and Taxation Minister said the Government is losing between Rs 600 crore and Rs 1,000 crore annually which was being illegally and fraudulently pocketed by about four lakh people under various social security pension schemes.
They were getting pension without providing details or were using false Aadhaar number. Some beneficiaries had Aadhaar of other states and were invalidly repeating the number in Haryana. In July alone, Rs 50.64 crore was released to them, she said.
Choudhry said that as many as 3,42,135 beneficiaries had been found to be receiving the pension illegally. They were getting financial aid under nine different social security schemes, including old age and disability pensions. Now, out of the 23,16,944 beneficiaries, pension will be released to only 19,74,809 people, she added.
“The BJP Government should immediately order a judicial probe into the scam involving wrongful transfer to ineligible and bogus beneficiaries to the tune of close to Rs 1,000 crore, identify the culprits and their cohorts in power circles, and take quick steps to recover the money fraudulently drawn by them”, Choudhry demanded.
