Cong demands emergency Assembly session on worsening law and order in Punjab

Condemning the continuing daylight murders in Punjab and holding SAD-BJP responsible for the same, the Congress party on Friday demanded emergency session of the Vidhan Sabha to discuss the worsening law and order situation in Punjab.

“The Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal should call emergency session of the Vidhan Sabha to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab,” demanded the Congress legislative Party (ClP) leader Charanjit Singh Channi.

He said: “Now, it is every day that a businessmen, religious preachers, politicians and industrialists are being murdered or kidnapped. Who is responsible for this situationIJ Punjab police has virtually failed to crack these elements. There is no safety of common man, culprits roam freely under the politico- police patronage.”

Channi also stated that the state assembly elections in February 2017 would prove to be a Waterloo for the Akali Dal-BJP combine. “Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia would be shown the place that he deserves for his crimes and he should start preparing himself to face the anger of the people,” said Channi.

In a rebuttal to what Majithia said about the Congress vice-president a day before in the media, Channi said that Majithia should immediately take back his words about Rahul Gandhi.

Channi reminded Majithia that his only claim to fame was that he was brother-in-law of the Deputy Chief Minister and became a minister superseding several senior party leaders who had been elected for the second and even third time.

Slamming the Revenue Minister for turning Punjab, the land of Sikh Gurus, saints and seers into a drug haven, Channi said that he and his party were responsible for destroying the future of Punjab.
