'Cong can't dupe people on property tax'

Shiromani Akali Dal president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Monday said that on April 30, the electronic voting machines (EVMs) would work as chopping machines to cut ‘Congress Grass’ from the roots as he had witnessed a strong resentment in the people of Punjab against Congress-led UPA Government while campaigning for the SAD-BJP candidates.

Addressing gathering in favour of SAD-BJP candidate from Anandpur Sahib Prem Singh Chandumajra, Sukhbir said that people of Punjab were all set to teach a historic lesson to Punjab Congress for playing with their sentiments by blaming State Government for the misdeeds of its party led UPA Government.

“Congress through its negative campaign has done its best to camouflage its misdeeds by holding SAD-BJP Government responsible for issue like costlier sand-gravel and property tax but people of the state are well aware of the fact that these are outcomes of anti-people policies of Congress led UPA Government,” he said.

Sukhbir said that he had discussed these issues with NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi who has promised that NDA would immediately roll back all the anti-people and anti-Punjab decisions of Congress-led UPA Government.

Time for Modi, Sukbhir to accept reality: Bajwa

Gurdaspur: Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday said that it was high time for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to accept reality of situation in Punjab.

“People here are determined to teach a lesson to the ruling alliance dispensation which had turned into a menace which they must get rid of…Sukhbir should start winding up his party after election as Akali Dal-BJP alliance would not be able to capture even a single seat out of 13,” he said while addressing series of rallies on the last day of his campaigning.

He said that the only achievement of immediate and extended Badal family was amassing of huge wealth during last few years by misusing official position. “Such rate of growth of personal wealth is beyond any comprehension. This is the only development Punjab has experienced. Punjab economy is in crisis with ever increasing debt and farmers committing suicides but for the Badal family, this has been the best period to multiply wealth. Badal family slogan of ‘Raj Nahin Seva’ had turned into ‘Raj for Self Seva,” he said.

Bajwa said that it had become a habit with Badal to resort to blatant lies but the people could not be taken for a ride every time.

Centre’s wrong policies responsible

Mohali: Holding the UPA Government squarely responsible for acute shortage of sand and gravel in Punjab, Akali Dal-BJP alliance candidate from Anandpur Sahib, Prem Singh Chandumajra on Monday assured the people that such anti-people policies would be reversed immediately after the formation of the NDA Government.

“348 out of 397 sand mines continued to be non-functional pending clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment. Prices of sand and gravel have skyrocketed as only 49 mines are functioning in the state. This amounted to meeting only about 10 per cent of the total demand,” he added.

He said that cases from Punjab were pending approval since January 2010 with the Union Environment Ministry. Repeated reminders sent by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had failed to yield any result, he added.

Akalis have no lollipops left to offer people: Singla

Sangrur: Congress candidate from Sangrur, Vijay Inder Singla on Monday said that he had confidence in the electorate who knows capabilities of each candidate and gimmickry, deceit and false promises of his opponents will not yield results.

“There is a visible anti-Akali wave in Punjab and BJP (being an alliance partner) has an equal responsibility to share the blame for this

situation. Akalis are hiding behind Modi in this election as they have no lollipops left to offer to the people,”

he said.

“But, the people have made up their mind to vote against the corrupt and mafia governance of Akali-BJP Government and vote for merit and performance,” he added.

Singla said that Aam Aadmi Party by running away from their development responsibilities in Delhi and resorting to dharnas on

every issue confronting the society has exposed their party and he has trust in the

voter in making a wise choice on April 30.
