In a move to chip the wings of high flying rebel leader Rao Inderjit Singh, Congress on Tuesday removed three District Congress Committee presidents in Haryana, who sided with the dissident leader.
State Congress president Phool Chand Mullana confirmed the move and said that, party high command has replaced Gl Sharma, Banwarilal and Rao Ram Singh, who headed the DCCs of Gurgaon urban, Rewari rural and Mahendragarh respectively with Vipin Khanna, Hiralal and Surender Yadav. “Party has also appointed three new DCC presidents namely Rajesh Singh, Vinod Midha and Chhatar Singh Chauhan for Palwal, Kaithal and Bhiwani rural respectively,” added Mullana.
Congress high command took this stern action against the three loyalists of Rao for their anti-party activities. Sulking over various matters for quite sometime these leaders handed over their resignation to Rao Inderjit Singh, during a rally on September 23. Rao, the bete noire of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has been brooding over party affairs for quite some time especially after he was removed from the Union Council of Ministers about two years ago.
Rao was in the limelight last month when he demanded a fair probe into the land deals of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, with real estate giant DlF. However, Rao told The Pioneer that “The action came slightly late as these three persons had already resigned form the party a month back on a public forum.”
There are other miffed Congress leaders who are planning to leave the party, but waiting only for the announcement of the upcoming lok Sabha elections 2014 said Gl Sharma, former DCC president from Gurgaon Urban who was axed from his position recently.
