After an embarrassing defeat in the MC election, the Congress alleged that electronic voting machines (EVMs) had been tampered.
The party leaders including losing candidates reached the UT Guest House to meet the officials of Election Commission on Tuesday and alleged that the EVMs had been tampered. The party leaders also protested and demand immediate action into the matter. Chandigarh Congress chief Pardeep Chhabra alleged that during the campaign, Chandigarh residents had come to them saying how they were being harassed due to demonetisation.
“But the results are shocking for us post demonetisation. The BJP has misused official machinery. If the election is conducted again using ballot papers, we will emerge victorious,” he added.
Only four party nominees could register victory out of 26 wards in Chandigarh. The winning candidates included Sheela Devi from ward number 5, Gurbax Rawat from ward number 9, Ravinder Kaur from ward number 15 and Devinder Singh Babla from ward number 18.
