Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Om Prakash Dhankar on Thursday directed officers of the department to complete the assessment being done in the state under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ of the damage caused to the crops due to water-logging or any other reason, on a priority basis.
He issued this directive while presiding over a review meeting of various schemes being implemented by the department in Panchkula.
The farmers should be made wise on the provisions of the Fasal Bima Yojana and encouraged to provide accurate details of their land and actual crops sown so that they may not have to pay more premium, he said.
The issue of damage caused to the paddy crop due to hopper and blast also cropped up at the meeting.
With a view to dealing with management of crop stubble, the department would provide grant to the farmers for the purchase of Happy Seeder and Straw Baler machines. Also, they would be provided Happy Seeder at nominal rent to put an end to the burning of crop stubble, said Dhankar .
He also directed officers to make the farmers aware about the harmful effects of burning crop stubble.
In future, detailed overview of all department related schemes would be done at the divisional level meetings, he added.
