The complaints in the Chandigarh Police Complaints Authority are piling up as the Chandigarh Administration has not made appropriate appointment on the post Chairperson of the Authority.
Earlier the appointment of Chandigarh’s former Advisor Pardeep Mehra was quashed by Punjab and Haryana High Court on a petition filed by Advocate H C Arora challenging the appointment.
While quashing Mehra’s appointment on August 20, 2015, the High Court had left it to Chandigarh administration to carryout the appointment in accordance with law.
Now in a fresh petition, Arora has said that Chandigarh Administration has not appointed Chairperson of the authority and as a result, the complaints before the authority were piling up without redressal.
The other two members were also not holding the proceedings since then, and about 100 complaints of aggrieved citizens mostly against Chandigarh Police were lying unattended.
Taking up the petition, a Division Bench of High Court issued notice to Chandigarh Administration and Home Secretary, Chandigarh for May 21 to file their reply.
