Director of a Bahadurgarh based private limited company has been arrested by Rohtak Commissionerate of Central Excise and Service Tax for evasion of tax. Rajender Singh, Director of Sangha Energy Pvt. ltd., Bahadurgarh was arrested by the officers of Commissionerate for over Rs3 crore tax evasion.
A spokesperson of the Excise Commissionerate said that the private limited company collected service tax of Rs70 lakh from 2009-10 to 2011-12 and not remitted the same to the Government account. As on date, over Rs60 lakhs service tax collected is retained by them for more than six months without remitting to the exchequer. Over Rs3 crore evasion of service is involved, he said.
The service provider was therefore arrested on April 8 under Section 91 of the Finance Act 194 and produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rohtak who remanded him to judicial custody. Further, investigation is under progress.
