Committee to take up issue of supply of untreated water to Hry

Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar lal on Wednesday said that a committee would be constituted under the chairmanship of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, OP Dhankar, to raise with Centre and Delhi Government the issue of supply of untreated water from Okhla barrage to Yamuna river, especially in the districts of Faridabad, Palwal and Nuh, and some parts of Gurugram.

The MlAs of these districts would be members of this committee which would hold a meeting after the budget session concludes, said the Chief Minister during the zero hour in the ongoing budget session of Vidhan Sabha, here.

The MlAs from these districts had raised issue of polluted water supply and demanded immediate measures from the State Government.

Replying to the MlAs, the Chief Minister said, “This is a serious issue and has been lingering at the inter-state level. The committee would discuss the matter with the Delhi Government as well as with the Central Government.”

Besides, it would also explore the possibilities of constructing a separate nullah running parallel to the Yamuna river to carry dirty water so that only treated water reaches Yamuna, said he.

Also, dialogue would be held with the UP Government so that clean water would reach Yamuna from the neighbouring state, the Chief Minister added.

Earlier, Minister OP Dhankar had suggested the MlAs from affected districts to hold a march to Delhi to protest against Delhi Government for not cooperating with Haryana on the issue. The suggestion, however, was rejected by the opposition MlAs.

Speaker allows INlD to attend the House

Haryana Assembly Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar on Wednesday revoked the suspension of INlD MlAs and allowed them to attend the House proceedings.

INlD had repeatedly disrupted the House over their demand of registration of an FIR and an inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation into the two viral audio conversations alleging financial impropriety by Bharat Bhushan Bharti, chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC).

When the House proceedings began on Wednesday, INlD MlA Parminder Singh Dhull, who was not suspended, urged the Speaker to allow other party MlAs to attend the House.

ClP leader Kiran Choudhry also backed his demand following which the Speaker allowed the INlD MlAs to attend the question hour and rest of the proceedings of budget session.
